FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: #letitgrow
Today, Rogue Brewmaster John “The Beard” Maier issued a statement confirming rumors that Beard Beer has been named the Official Beer of No-Shave November, a nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness and funds to support cancer prevention, research and education.
“I am pleased that Beard Beer, brewed with a wild yeast cultivated from my follicles, is able to play a role in the fight against cancer,” said the Beard. Proceeds from the sale of Beard Beer during the month will be donated to No-Shave November. “It’s the yeast we could do,” added the Beard.
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Participants are asked put down the razor for 30 days and donate their monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause.
The follicle challenged and sufferers of pogonophobia can also join the cause by making contribution through the personal donation pages of their bearded brethren.
The Beard would like to remind craft beer fans there’s no reason to freak out over the idea of yeast from a beard. Brewers have been using wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. The Beard’s Old Growth Beard has remained uncut for over 36 years and 19,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard.
